Dr. Mika was born in Charlottesville (a native!) and raised in Radford, Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in 1979. She, then attended the Medical School at the Medical College of Virginia, where she met and married her husband, Dr. David Mika, a Madison County native, who practices psychiatry in Charlottesville. She completed her pediatric residency at the Medical College of Georgia. She spent one year on the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia supervising residents in an outpatient clinic, practiced pediatrics in Culpeper , in the UVA Emergency room and in solo practice, before joining Pediatric Associates in 1995. She is especially interested in ADHD and breastfeeding support. Dr. Mika is involved in several organizations, including Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she is the projection tech at worship services. She is also the chairperson of the Martha Jefferson PHO Credentials Committee and a board member of the Charlottesville Chapter of the College of William and Mary alumni.
Dr. Mika has three children, Jason, Alison, Matthew a grandson, Dalton Mika and a grandaughter Abigail Katherine Schutte. She enjoys gardening, sewing, reading, bicycling, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. Be sure to ask about her grandchildren when you see her. Go Tribe!
